Born in Mexico City on November 23, 1950, Zambrano moved with her family to Houston, Texas in 1961. A graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School, she married Oscar E. Zambrano on July 5, 1969. Together, they raised three children as they built their family and a life in Houston. In 2003, the couple relocated to Spring, Texas, where they established their final home.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Oscar E. Zambrano, and their three children: Veronica King and husband Chad, Oscar Zambrano Jr. and wife Sonia, as well as Mario Alberto Zambrano. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Cody King and wife Abigail, Laura and Olivia King, Alexis, Gabrielle, Natalie, and Gianna Zambrano. Additionally, she had three brothers: Jose Luis Aguirre and wife Amelia, Jesse Aguirre and wife Marquiestella, and a sister, Rosie Moya. She is also survived by Hermila Venegas, who was like a sister, along with her husband Olegario, numerous nieces, and nephews.
Margaret dedicated 25 years of her career to the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) before her retirement. She was actively involved in her community, serving as treasurer for the UT Houston Retiree Organization and volunteering at the Prince of Peace Mercy Center. Known for her warm smile and welcoming demeanor, she touched many lives with her humility, deep faith, and generous spirit.
A fervent leader in her family, Margaret loved holding family gatherings, celebrating holidays, and cooking for her children and grandchildren. She cherished traveling, dancing, gardening, baking, and cooking, often creating joyful memories around the dinner table. Margaret had a zest for life and often described herself with the words “Fast, Focused, Flexible, Friendly, and Fun.” She emphasized that “Fun” was the most important attribute she aspired to embody.
In the wake of her passing, the family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the support and prayers they have received during this difficult time. A funeral service honoring Margaret Zambrano will be held on June 30, 2025, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following the church service, visitation will be at Brookside Funeral Home – Champion, also in Houston, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. A graveside service will take place at Klein Memorial Park in Tomball, Texas, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
