Houston, Texas—Min Woo Lee has claimed his first victory on the PGA Tour at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, finishing with a remarkable score of 20-under 260. This score sets a new tournament record, surpassing the previous mark by four shots. Lee completed the final round with a score of 3-under 67, while facing significant pressure from prominent competitors.
Entering the final round with a four-shot lead, Lee found himself challenged by fellow golfers Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland. Woodland surged in the competition, tying the course record with an impressive score of 62, yet narrowly missed the title by finishing in second place. Lee’s performance included a critical moment on the 16th hole when he hit his tee shot into the water, resulting in a disappointing bogey. Nevertheless, he managed to maintain his lead and secure the victory.
Scottie Scheffler, who was defending his Masters title, also had a strong closing round, finishing with a score of 63, which placed him just one shot behind Lee. This win marks a significant milestone for Lee, as it is his first title after competing in 56 events on the PGA Tour. Furthermore, he joins the ranks of five other players who have earned their first PGA Tour victories this season.
With this triumph, Lee secured 500 FedExCup points and a substantial prize of $1,710,000. His victory also grants him exemptions into all remaining Signature Events for the season, including the prestigious 2026 Sentry Tournament. Prior to this victory, Lee was already eligible to participate in the upcoming Masters and the PGA Championship.
Lee’s achievement is particularly noteworthy as he is the younger brother of Minjee Lee, a renowned major champion on the LPGA Tour. The Memorial Park Golf Course, where the event was held, saw high attendance and was characterized by an incredibly competitive field, featuring both established major champions and exciting rising stars in the golf world. Rory McIlroy finished tied for fifth place, concluding the tournament with a score of 64, even though he faced issues with bogeys both at the start and end of his round.
The Texas Children’s Houston Open showcased an impressive display of talent and skill, ultimately leading to Min Woo Lee’s historic victory on the PGA Tour.
