Local law enforcement agencies and Governor Greg Abbott’s office are aware of the planned demonstrations and are taking steps to ensure safety and order during the events. In preparation for potential disruptions, the Sugar Land Police Department will also have staff on duty to ensure public safety.
League City officials, including Mayor Nick Long, have issued warnings that while peaceful protests are encouraged, any traffic obstruction or disorderly conduct will not be tolerated. Meanwhile, Congressman Wesley Hunt has raised concerns regarding the possibility of violence at the protests and has urged law enforcement to be adequately prepared, citing incidents of civil unrest from past protests in different cities.
The No Kings movement has positioned June 14 as a “national day of action and mass mobilization.” Participants will be encouraged to engage in nonviolent forms of protest and are specifically urged not to bring weapons or engage in confrontations.
