Houston, Texas

Two people are dead and several others are injured following a drive-by shooting outside the Bugs nightclub in Houston shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 14, 2025. The Houston Police Department (HPD) is currently investigating the incident that occurred just before 11:45 p.m.

One individual was found dead at the scene, while a second victim was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead there. A total of seven other individuals sustained injuries as a result of the shooting; some were taken to nearby hospitals by personal means while others received medical treatment at the site of the incident.

Among the injured, there is a possibility that one victim may be a juvenile, as indicated by HPD Assistant Chief Adrian Rodriguez. While the precise number of shots fired during the incident remains undetermined, a witness described hearing multiple rounds fired.

The suspected shooter is believed to have been traveling in a gray or silver four-door sedan that drove by the gathering and opened fire into the crowd. Currently, authorities have not made any arrests nor do they have a detailed description of the suspect or a clear motive for the shooting. HPD is actively reviewing surveillance footage from the club and interviewing witnesses in hopes of uncovering more information.

This incident marks the second deadly shooting at the Bugs nightclub in just four months. In March 2025, a shooting resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man following an argument, with the shooter also fleeing in a silver sedan. The city has seen an alarming uptick in gun violence in nightlife areas, raising concerns among residents and law enforcement.

HPD is urging anyone with information related to the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477). Community members are encouraged to assist in the ongoing investigation by providing any details they may have.

In light of these recent events, the city of Houston is grappling with the challenges surrounding nightlife safety. Increased police presence and community outreach initiatives may be considered in response to the growing concern over public safety in entertainment districts.

As investigations continue, local authorities remain focused on ensuring the safety and security of residents. The community is left to mourn the loss of life and rally together in support of those affected by this tragic event.
