Huntsville, TX – Sam Houston State University’s women’s golfers Amelia Guo and Grace Jin have been recognized for their exceptional academic achievements, earning second-team honors on the Conference USA Women’s Golf All-Academic Teams for the 2024-25 season. The announcement was made by Conference USA officials on April 10, 2025.

To qualify for the All-Academic team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher and participate in at least 75% of their team’s scheduled tournaments. Both Guo and Jin have demonstrated not only their commitment to academics but also their skill on the golf course throughout the season.

Amelia Guo, a sophomore studying Biomedical Sciences, has achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.83. Throughout the season, she made a significant impact by consistently finishing among the top contenders in various tournaments. Highlights of her performance include a commendable second-place finish at the Bearkat Invitational and a ninth-place finish at the Badger Invitational, showcasing her talent and competitive spirit.

Grace Jin, also a sophomore, holds a GPA of 3.77 while majoring in Communications Studies. Jin has had an impressive season, securing two individual titles at the Badger Invitational and the Bearkat Invitational. Her performance has not gone unnoticed, as she was named the CUSA Golfer of the Week after finishing seventh at The Ally, further establishing her as a competitive athlete in the CUSA conference.

The academic achievements and athletic performances of both golfers have not only contributed to their individual successes but also to the overall reputation of the Sam Houston Bearkat women’s golf program. As the season progresses, the team is preparing for upcoming challenges, concluding their regular season play. The Bearkats are scheduled to compete in the 2025 CUSA Women’s Golf Championships, which will take place from April 14 to April 16, 2025, at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida.

The Conference USA Women’s Golf All-Academic Teams are a testament to the league’s commitment to promoting academic excellence among its student-athletes. Recognition as part of this elite group adds an important accolade to Guo and Jin’s growing list of achievements, presenting them as role models for peers and younger athletes. The combination of their academic prowess and skills on the golf course exemplifies the spirit of dual excellence that many educational institutions strive to cultivate.

As the 2025 CUSA Women’s Golf Championships approach, both Guo and Jin, alongside their teammates, will look to build on their successful season performances. Their ability to balance rigorous academic demands with the competitive nature of collegiate golf is a remarkable achievement that reflects their dedication and hard work.

Following the championships, the attention will likely turn to the next season and the ongoing development of the Sam Houston women’s golf program, which continues to foster talent capable of excelling both in academics and athletics. Their journey forward can inspire many aspiring athletes to strive for greatness in both arenas.
