HOUSTON, Texas — The Houston Comets showed off the look they will wear back into the WNBA, unveiling a new logo and brand Thursday night at a downtown Houston celebration at POST Houston.
The main mark is a navy H tilted upward, with a red basketball streaking through it like a comet to form the crossbar. Four stars inside the letter stand for the four straight league titles the original Comets won from 1997 through 2000, and the lone white star among them nods to Texas. The team colors are red, navy and silver.
A second, round version sets the H on a red patch modeled on space mission badges, with the city and team names circling it. Two new wordmarks spell out HOUSTON and COMETS, each with a comet flying into the letter O and a lowercase t meant to tie the team to the Houston Rockets.
Gretchen Sheirr, who heads business operations for both the Rockets and Comets, called the night a landmark for the franchise, the city and women’s sports, and said the club wants to honor its title history while building something new.
The Comets came back in March 2026, when the Fertitta family, which owns the Rockets, bought the Connecticut Sun and moved the team to Toyota Center. The first Comets, one of the league’s eight original teams, played from 1997 to 2008. Uniforms have not been shown yet. Fans can shop the new gear at a pop-up store at the George R. Brown Convention Center from Oct. 30 through Nov. 1, with appearances planned by Hall of Famers Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes and coach Van Chancellor.
