Houston, Texas – Robert Joe “Rob” Marett, a cherished family man and accomplished attorney, peacefully passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 79. His family, friends, and colleagues mourn the loss of a beloved individual remembered for his profound impact on their lives and his dedication to the pursuit of justice.

Rob Marett was born in Houston, Texas, to Fred and Elizabeth Marett. He was raised in a close-knit family, sharing his childhood with an older brother, Fred, and a twin brother, Rodney. Proud of his Texan roots, Rob pursued higher education at the University of Texas, where he cultivated his interests in engineering and law.

Rob began his career as a patent examiner and patent attorney, showcasing his expertise in intellectual property law. However, his true passion lay in civil litigation, driven by a desire to help ordinary people secure the justice they deserved. Over the years, he built a successful legal practice that earned him respect in the legal community.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rob was a devoted husband to Sue, with whom he shared a loving marriage. Together, they raised four children: Scott, Jennifer, Jamie, and Stephanie. He was known for his unwavering support and active involvement in his children’s lives, coaching their little league and soccer teams, and making it a point to never miss a game. The Marett family cherished moments spent on family road trips and annual beach vacations, creating lasting memories that they will hold dear.

Rob shared a special connection with his grandchildren, often referred to as “Papa Bear” and “Peepaw.” He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new grandson, which underscored his deep familial bonds and the joy he found in family life. His adventurous spirit was also evident in his love for the outdoors, as he enjoyed rafting and boating, including orchestrating a memorable canoe trip with Sue.

His humorous and thoughtful nature endeared him to many. Rob was known for his ability to connect with others, and he had an expansive view on community, famously insisting that no one should ever be without a chair. Faith played a significant role in his life, providing him with strength and peace through dedicated Bible study.

In addition to his immediate family, Rob is survived by his twin brother Rodney and numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Fred, marking a profound loss for those who knew and loved him.

A service celebrating Rob’s life is scheduled for August 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons in Houston, Texas. Following the service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the adjacent grand foyer, where they can reminisce about the joy and laughter Rob brought into their lives.
