Encouragement for Parental Involvement

As the new academic year approaches, several school supply drives and back-to-school events are being organized throughout the Houston area. Parents are encouraged to check their respective school calendars to effectively plan for the upcoming school year and ensure their children are prepared for the return to the classroom.

Regulatory Framework

It is important to note that Texas state law typically mandates public schools to commence classes only after the fourth Monday in August. However, HISD benefits from an exemption as a District of Innovation, allowing it to start earlier than the customary timeframe.
