HOUSTON, Texas — Another mild autumn day is on tap for Houston before rain chances climb over the weekend, with Sunday looking wettest for Houston and cooler air arriving early next week.
Friday should stay mostly sunny and comfortable with highs in the low 80s and low humidity. A weak front late Thursday into early Friday may bring only a limited chance of showers near the coast, leaving most of the metro dry for the workday.
Saturday looks partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 70s and northeast winds helping hold temperatures down. Any Saturday showers look more likely late and well south of the metro near the Matagorda coast and Brazoria County, while the city itself may stay mostly dry until evening.
Sunday brings a better shot at rain in the city, with locally heavy downpours possible south of town. The heaviest activity may stay west of Interstate 45 and south of Interstate 10, where brief street flooding cannot be ruled out. Highs Sunday may struggle to climb out of the middle 60s under clouds.
A stalled upper-level low over Texas is steering the weekend setup, and leftover shower chances may continue Monday and Tuesday. Nights next week look cooler, with lows in the 40s and low 50s across much of the Houston area as the system finally clears.
Forecasters still note some uncertainty in exact rainfall totals south of the metro, but the broader trend is clear: enjoy Friday’s sunshine, then prepare for a wetter Sunday and a sharper cool-down once the weekend system moves through.
