HOUSTON, Texas — Houston Dynamo FC will start the short 2027 MLS Sprint Season at home, hosting Sporting Kansas City at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston on Feb. 20, under the schedule the league and club released Thursday.

The Sprint Season is a four-month, 14-match run that carries MLS into its new summer-to-spring calendar, which starts in July 2027. Houston sees every one of its 14 Western Conference rivals once, seven at home and seven away. The first road trip comes a week after the opener, at San Jose on Feb. 27.

Two marquee visitors are on the home slate: Vancouver, with Thomas Muller, on March 3, and San Diego FC on April 21. Houston also hosts the LA Galaxy on March 13 in an early 2 p.m. Central start, one of five Saturday home dates.

The in-state games are set as well. Houston hosts Austin FC on April 3 and goes to Frisco to face FC Dallas on Saturday, April 24, at Toyota Stadium, where Dallas will be playing one of its last two home games of the season. The Dynamo beat Austin 3-0 and drew 2-2 with Dallas in 2026 and want back the Copa Tejas title they won in 2025.

The regular season ends May 8 in Utah against Real Salt Lake, a Decision Day finale on which every Western Conference match kicks off at 7 p.m. Central. Eight clubs per conference go on to the playoffs, and the higher seed hosts every round through MLS Cup.

Single-match tickets and home packages are expected to go on sale in December. How teams finish this spring also settles who goes to Leagues Cup and the Concacaf Champions Cup in 2028, so the short schedule carries more weight than its length suggests.
