SEATTLE, Wash. — The pro soccer club from Houston, Texas, won 1-0 on the road over the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night at Lumen Field, a result that pushes the Dynamo into the top four of the MLS Western Conference with the regular season nearly over.

The only goal came in the 26th minute. Mateusz Bogusz sent in a corner kick, and defender Lucas Halter finished it off unmarked after Seattle failed to clear the first ball at the near post. The helper was the fifth of the year for Bogusz.

From there it was a long night of defending. Seattle kept close to 70 percent of the ball, put up 21 shots and won 10 corners, yet could not find an equalizer. Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond finished with six saves, including a full-stretch stop on a long Cristian Roldan shot in the 13th minute and a pair of saves on Jesus Ferreira and Albert Rusnak in the 41st.

Bond saved his best for last. In stoppage time he scrambled across his line to keep out a headed try from Paul Arriola and preserve the shutout.

The clean sheet was the 13th of the season for the Dynamo, which ties the club record for a single year. It was also the 12th for Bond, matching the club goalkeeping marks held by Tally Hall and Steve Clark. Houston now sits level with St. Louis for third place and three points back of second.

The loss dropped Seattle one spot to eighth, a point above the playoff line with two matches left.

Next up for Houston is another trip, this one to Portland on Sunday, Nov. 1. Kickoff against the Timbers is 8:45 p.m. Central.
