HOUSTON, Texas — The Houston Texans clawed back to force overtime on Sunday in Houston, Texas, but never touched the ball with a chance to win it, and the New York Giants walked off with a 27-21 victory.

Houston received the first possession of the extra period and went three-and-out. The Giants then needed just three plays to cover 81 yards. Cam Skattebo ripped off a 42-yard run, and Devin Singletary took the next handoff 30 yards for the deciding touchdown.

The loss drops the Texans to 2-5. New York is now 4-2-1.

C.J. Stroud threw two touchdown passes, but his 153 passing yards were his lowest total of the season, and Houston punted on its first three drives after halftime. The Texans finally answered when Stroud hit Xavier Hutchinson from 3 yards out with 52 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 21.

Marvin Harrison Jr., playing just his second game for Houston since arriving in a trade with Arizona, caught a 6-yard scoring pass late in the first half, and Cade Stover hauled in the two-point try to knot the game at 14 at the break. Ka’imi Fairbairn added field goals of 58 and 57 yards in the first half.

Skattebo did most of the damage for New York, piling up 124 yards on 17 carries, and he scored from 16 yards out early in the final period. J.J. McCarthy, in his first start of the year for the Giants, completed 20 of 28 throws for 252 yards. New York finished with 183 more total yards than Houston.

There was a bright spot for Texans fans. Tank Dell played for the first time in nearly two years after a severe knee injury, making one catch for 43 yards and returning a punt 14 yards. Houston also lost receiver Jaylin Noel to a toe injury during the final quarter.

Houston has an open week before visiting the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 8.
