On April 10, 2025, Conference USA (CUSA) announced the Women’s Golf All-Academic Teams, highlighting the achievements of student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the course.

Amelia Guo and Grace Jin were recognized for their outstanding performances, each earning second-team honors for their exceptional academic and athletic accomplishments. To qualify for CUSA’s All-Academic team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher and participate in at least 75% of their team’s tournaments.

Amelia Guo currently holds a GPA of 3.83 in Biomedical Sciences. Throughout the season, she has secured several impressive finishes, including a second-place finish at the Bearkat Invitational and a ninth-place finish at the Badger Invitational. Her performances demonstrate her commitment to both her studies and her sport.

Grace Jin, who boasts a GPA of 3.77 in Communication Studies, has also had a successful season, winning two individual titles at the Badger Invitational and the Bearkat Invitational. Her dedication was recognized when she was named CUSA Golfer of the Week following her seventh-place finish at The Ally.

The Sam Houston Bearkats recently concluded their regular season and are preparing to compete in the CUSA Women’s Golf Championships, scheduled to take place in St. Augustine, Florida, from April 14 to April 16, 2025. Their notable performances and academic achievements have positioned them as strong contenders in upcoming competitions.

Academic Achievements Among D2 Golf Teams

In addition to Sam Houston, the Harding women’s golf team achieved significant recognition with five athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team for NCAA Division II. The eligibility criteria require that student-athletes be at least sophomores both academically and athletically, make substantial contributions on the field or course, and maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Leading the Harding Lady Bisons is Sarah Kmiecik, a senior from Houston, Texas, who has an impressive 4.00 GPA in kinesiology and sport administration. Kmiecik has excelled on the course, holding a school-record stroke average of 74.20 and achieving six top-10 finishes alongside seven rounds scored at par or better.

Sydney Kincade, a sophomore from Prosper, Texas, closely follows with a GPA of 3.88 in exercise science. She has posted a 75.52 stroke average and secured five top-10 finishes this season. Both Kmiecik and Kincade earned All-Great American Conference honors and have advanced to the Academic All-America ballot.

Other notable members of the Harding team include Pilar Martinez, a junior from Aguascalientes, Mexico, with a GPA of 3.56 in marketing and a 77.12 stroke average, along with junior Madeleine Wilson from Springdale, Arkansas, who possesses a GPA of 3.84 and has averaged 78.76 strokes over ten events. Additionally, Cooper Meyer, a sophomore health studies major from Salado, Texas, has a GPA of 3.71 and a stroke average of 79.31, having achieved victory at the Scots Fall Invitational.

Season Highlights

The Harding Lady Bisons recently completed their season with a commendable top-10 finish at the NCAA Central Regional and an impressive second-place finish at the Great American Conference Championship, showcasing their steadfast commitment to both athletic performance and academic excellence.
