The Freedom Over Texas event, Houston’s premier Fourth of July celebration, will take place at Eleanor Tinsley Park on Buffalo Bayou this year. Scheduled for July 4th, the festivities will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m., culminating in a spectacular fireworks display at 9:35 p.m.
This year’s main headliner is country music superstar Lee Brice, with rising star Ashley McBryde serving as the special guest opener. The event promises six hours of entertainment showcasing a variety of local, regional, and national acts, appealing to attendees of all ages.
In a bid to enhance the experience, organizers are making the event more accessible and inclusive for everyone. Co-produced by the Mayor’s Office of Special Events and ABC13—Houston’s official TV partner—the event aims to attract a crowd similar to past years, which has drawn around 50,000 attendees.
Admission to Freedom Over Texas is set at $10 per person, with children aged five and under admitted for free. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the gates on the day of the event. With additional fees, the price without tax is approximately $11.
This year’s lineup includes a host of engaging activities for families. The Bud Light Bayou Bash beer garden will be available for adults looking for refreshments, while the Dr Pepper Flavor Zone will provide floats alongside live music. For younger guests, the Red, White & Play Kids Zone offers games and face painting to ensure a fun-filled day.
In a touching homage, Liberty Park will feature interactive booths and photo opportunities to honor military personnel and first responders, highlighting the event’s connection to patriotism and community spirit.
Attendees should note that the city is moving towards cashless transactions in most areas of the event to streamline the experience. Parking will be available at the Hobby Center and Theater District Parking Garages for a fee. However, those planning to attend should expect traffic delays and road closures in the vicinity leading up to and during the event.
The Freedom Over Texas event is more than just a celebration of Independence Day; it is a cherished Houston tradition that unites the community in an atmosphere of fun, music, and patriotism. With the promise of a star-studded lineup, engaging activities, and a vibrant atmosphere, this year’s celebration aims to create lasting memories for all who attend.
