Allana Gray, the mother of Egypt, was running errands when the accident unfolded. At the time, Egypt’s father was supervising both Egypt and her 4-year-old brother outside their apartment. While the father briefly stepped inside to retrieve his phone, the critical moment that led to the hit-and-run took place. Upon his return, he learned from the 4-year-old that Egypt had wandered into the parking lot.
Gray was notified of the accident with an urgent phone call as she was making her way home. Gray described an overwhelming sense of disbelief upon seeing her injured daughter.
