Born on September 6, 1987, Adam was diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities and speech impairment at just 1½ years old. He made significant contributions to his community and inspired many through his unwavering spirit and zest for life.

Adam’s early years were shaped by a supportive family. His parents, Manuel and Carmen Vasquez, adapted quickly to communicate with Adam, using body language and visual cues to help bridge the gap created by his speech challenges. This nurturing environment laid the foundation for a life filled with friendships and active participation in various community activities.

Throughout his educational journey, Adam distinguished himself with his sociable nature. At Humble High School, he became involved in the Best Buddies club, where he formed a deep and lasting friendship with Mike Simonetty, which lasted for over two decades. The Simonetty family warmly embraced Adam, often inviting him on outings and adventures, enriching both his life and theirs.

After graduating high school, Adam continued to be socially active by attending the Village Center in Kingwood, Texas, where he developed friendships with many of his classmates. His ability to connect with others was evident, as he attracted a wide circle of friends, despite the challenges in engaging in conventional conversations.

Adam was also deeply involved in his faith community, being a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and participating in the Knights of Columbus. His community service and engagement reflected his strong character and commitment to inclusivity.

In addition to his community involvement, Adam was a talented athlete, excelling in the Special Olympics. His athletic endeavors included cycling, tennis, basketball, table tennis, powerlifting, golf, and baseball. A notable highlight of his athletic career came in 1997 when he represented Team USA at the World Games in Shanghai, China, where he showcased his skills in bocce ball, earning a bronze medal for his efforts.

Adam’s passing has left a significant impact on those who knew him. He is survived by his loving mother, Carmen Vasquez, and his brothers, John and Keith Vasquez, along with their families and pets. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Vasquez, and other family members, including grandparents, a variety of uncles, and cousins.

The funeral arrangements for Adam Vasquez reflect the close ties he maintained with his friends and family. Visitation is set for May 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. A rosary will follow from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place the next day, May 24, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, culminating with a graveside service from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

The pallbearers at his funeral will include those closest to him, such as family members and friends who have been a part of his remarkable journey, paying tribute to a life that celebrated inclusivity, friendship, and determination.
